Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Specifications and Features (Rumoured)
It’s been very long since Samsung launched the successor to their Galaxy Watch. So, people are expecting it to be a big update from its predecessor with some major improvements and changes. There are a lot of rumors available on various platforms and we are going to cover them all in this article. So, here is all we know about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 along with the rumors.
Let’s start with the biggest change that is spreading all over the internet, Wear OS – Yes, as we already mentioned above Samsung is going with the new Wear OS this year. After working with Google on the new Wear OS, Samsung is ditching its Tizen OS for the new Galaxy Watch. The new watch will come with One UI based on Wear OS, so, you will still have the Samsung device experience with your new watch.
According to leaks and rumors, Samsung is working on three models this year. One of them would be the regular and the classy one, the normal Galaxy Watch 4. Others would the Active versions of the watch, the rugged and sports version of the watch. The codenames of these watches are Wise, Fresh, and Lucky. Wise should be the regular Galaxy Watch, Fresh and Lucky should be the Active version of the same.
The new Galaxy Watch could come in two sizes. The Galaxy Watch 4 will be available in 42mm and 46mm, while the active edition of the watch will feature a 40mm and 42mm case size.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 lineup featured a 247mAh and 340mAh battery, which were good and better than the major competition in the market. It offered a two-day battery backup, and with the new Samsung Galaxy Watch, Samsung is going with an almost similar battery. The new Galaxy Watch 4 will come with a 240mAh battery for the 42mm model and a 350mAh battery for the 46mm model. Samsung may use a faster charging approach and optimize the watch for longer battery backup.
Blood Glucose Monitor
Most of the health-related features are not out yet and nobody has found any leaks about them. But one thing came out in January that is, Samsung is going to add a glucose monitoring feature to their new Galaxy Watch lineup. The company came out with a laser-based system to monitor blood glucose levels last year. It uses a laser to detect the chemical composition of the blood. This feature would be a major step toward success as it will give Samsung a chance to stand against Apple Watch.
It will provide better-detailed information for the diabetes patient. But from another report by Money Today claims that the new watches are not coming with the blood glucose monitoring feature. So, as of now, it is not sure whether the new watch will support blood glucose monitoring or not.
As we know the new watch is going to come with Wear OS, which means better Google apps support. All the Google apps like Google Pay, Google Maps, Google Fit etc. will be available for the Galaxy Watch users. These apps were a big problem for the Tizen OS and now it is solved.
The new watch is reported to support 8GB internal storage which is already available in new smartwatches present in the market. According to the rumors, it looks like Samsung is going to use a 5mm chip to power the new Galaxy Watch. It could be a huge step forward as it will provide better performance with the new Wear OS and better battery life.
Price and availability
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 started around $399 for the 42mm and under $450 for the larger 46mm model. Samsung might go with the same pricing as they already increased the price last year for the Galaxy Watch 3 and the major competition in the market is also priced the same. The Galaxy Watch will be available for preorder on the announcement day and will go on sale after a few days.
The exact date for the new Galaxy Watch lineup is not known yet and nothing is leaked online. Galaxy Watch 3 was launched with the Samsung Galaxy Note 20, but as we know there is no Note this year. So, we don’t know the exact day and device with which it may launch.
According to Sammobile, Samsung is going to launch the new watch in June around 28. They hope this because the company has scheduled an online only event on June 28th. So, we hope that the watch will launch alongside Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 by the end of this month around 28th.
