Fitbit Charge 4 vs Fitbit Versa 2

Charge 4, based on looks, is a typical activity tracker and not so much different from its previous version, Charge 3. It has a rectangular core unit measuring 35.8mm x 22.7mm while having a depth of 12.5mm. It has an OLED TFT grayscale display, which measures at 34.5mm x 19.8mm.

Meanwhile, the second generation of Versa has the upper hand in terms of display. It has a much larger display 25.07 mm x 25.07 mm, thus making it very easy to use whether you are exercising indoors or outdoors. Moreover, it has a more excellent screen display quality (300 x 300 pixels) as compared to Charge 4’s (100 x 150 pixels).

The Versa 2 also has a color AMOLED screen to give you the full HD experience. This display is as good as it gets in the market, and honestly, it beats many smartphones as well.

Now, in terms of navigation, both the devices using a combination of touch and some physical buttons provided. Here, Versa 2 has three buttons, one on the left and two on the right, whereas the Charge 4 has only one inductive button on the left side.

Battery Life: Charge 4 and Fitbit Versa 2

The battery life of your fitness tracker is like one of the most vital features to check out before deciding to purchase the device. On this parameter, Charge 4 can last up to 7 days on a full charge. Still, if you are going for outdoor activities and using GPS regularly, the battery life gets drastically reduced up to 5 hours (yeah, that’s pretty drastic).

On the other hand, the Versa 2 also has a decent battery life which can last more than five days. What’s more, it can be charged from 0-100 within 2 hours.

GPS: Fitbit Charge 4 and Versa 2

All of you fitness enthusiasts who love tracking through the mountains or hiking must want GPS as a must factor. Well, both these Fitbit devices are equipped with GPS, but only Charge 4 has a GPS in-built. This means Versa 2 has a connected GPS that is accessible only through your smartphone, i.e., it uses the GPS tech in your phone to display the info on your Fitbit. This could be a problem for you if taking the smartphone to exercise would be an issue.

Sensors: Fitbit Charge 4 vs Versa 2

Sensors are an added advantage which helps you track many vital body stats while you are exercising. In this regard, both the Fitbit Versa 2 and Charge 4 have almost similar specs, i.e., an optical heart rate tracker, a 3-axis accelerometer, altimeter, SpO2 sensors, and a vibration motor.

The only added sensor difference is with Versa 2, which has an ambient light sensor to adjust its screen brightness so that you don’t get a glare while working out in areas of sunlight. This is particularly valid for users who prefer working out outdoors.

Waterproof: Fitbit Charge 4 vs Fitbit Versa 2.

Both Fitbit Charge 4 and Versa 2 are waterproof up to 50M. So you can go for a swim or even a bath with it on your hands. If you are a swimming enthusiast, then Fitbit Charge 4 would be a good choice of selection. Because, Charge 4 can track swimming activities on both open and closed pool as it has an in-built GPS in it.

Where as Fitbit Versa 2 is best for closed water swimming and not suitable for open water swimming as it does not an in-built GPS.

In terms of closed water swimming both trackers are excellent and it can give you a deep insight into your swimming metrics such as speed, lap and length.

Other Functionalities

Fitbit Charge 4 Features

While we have discussed most of the features and specs, there are some left to be compared. The Fitbit Versa 2 comes with an in-built 5GB storage while the Fitbit Charge 4 does not have any internal storage. Both of them can be connected with Spotify, but you cannot store songs in the Fitbit Charge 4, only listen to songs through Spotify.

The Versa 2, due to its comparatively larger display screen and its always on-screen functionality helps you to check your body stats (multiple) on the go while this is not possible in the Fitbit Charge 4.

Meanwhile, Charge 4 has a unique feature called Active Zones, which helps users by motivating them with rewards and points on completing fitness goals daily. This feature is not yet released in the Versa series.
